Day of Happy!

Did you know that March 20th is the International Day of Happiness?

Since 2013, the United Nations has celebrated the International Day of Happiness as a way to recognize the importance of happiness in the lives of people around the world.

Room 18 celebrated by sharing things that make them happy,

playing a happy categories game,

dancing to happy songs,

and by creating artwork, surrounded by words that make us happy, inspired by the book The Word Collector by Peter H. Reynolds.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Room 18 celebrated by creating art,

creating limericks,

playing probability games,

participating in Two-Minute-to-Win-it challenges,

a spelling challenge,

and by playing Kahoot!

What a fun day!

From the French Department...

In Français, it's time for another C.F.O.O.

(Le Club Fabuleux des Orateurs et Oratrices)!

This is a public speaking "club" that will help students improve their oral French skills through short presentations.

For this presentation, students must choose an option they have not yet presented.

It could be one of the  Opinion options:
Je préfère, where students name and explain five of their favorite things.
Je déteste, where students name and explain five things they dislike.
J'aimerais, where students choose a Would you Rather type of question and explain what their choice would be.

It could be one of the Creativity options:
C'est vendu - where they present a commercial for an item
C'est artistique - where they present an art masterpiece they created
C'est inventé - where they show off three creative uses for an everyday object.

Students should also keep in mind eye contact, volume and expression during their speech. They should be sure to speak only in French and try to add a piece of themselves into their presentation.

The CFOO Presentations will take place on Wednesday, March 12th.
