Speechtastic!

This year in English Language Arts, students will participate in Speechtastic, where, by preparing different short speeches, they will improve their speaking skills, develop their listening skills and use their creativity!

Their first speech of the year is an Impromptu Speech, a speech given with just a little preparation. Each student will give Mme McKenzie three possible topics. She will randomly choose one and the student will have to present their speech on the spot. What is most important is to speak clearly and calmly, without long pauses, umms or misused 'likes'.

Presentations will take place
Wednesday, October 23rd.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today students had the chance to participate in a Thanksgiving Amazing Race! Working in partners, they had to solve six different problems.

We also had a sharing circle, where students shared things they are thankful for.

Students then independently created beautiful Thanksgiving cards.

Happy Thanksgiving!

From the English Department...

In English Language Arts we are reading aloud the novel Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper.

The main character is Melody, who lives with cerebral palsy and is non-verbal.

This morning, our school psychologist, Mme Caitlyn, told us more about cerebral palsy, the brain and the difference between visible and non-visible disabilities.
